Are you a fan of the many personalities behind M&M’s? A new character is joining the lineup: Ms. Brown. Word is she will make her debut during the Super Bowl, reportedly in a first-quarter commercial, and I couldn’t be more intrigued. As someone who keeps a steady supply of M&M’s in the pantry, the idea of a new character and campaign really caught my attention.
I love M&M’s for more than their taste. They are a versatile candy that works well on its own, as a quick snack, and as an ingredient in many desserts. When the brand introduced Pretzel M&M’s, I was thrilled—the combination of crisp pretzel crunch and sweet chocolate is irresistible. In my house, the pretzel variety rarely makes it into recipes because they disappear so quickly.
This week, inspired by the buzz around Ms. Brown, I picked up a bag of milk chocolate M&M’s and set out to create a simple M&M’s cake. I followed a straightforward approach: bake two 9-inch round cakes, stack and frost them, and then let the candy do most of the decorating. The result was colorful, festive, and exactly what I wanted—an easy celebration cake that looks impressive without a lot of fuss.
The cake was well received at home. My husband declared it one of the best birthday cakes he’d had in a long time, which is high praise around here. The sweetness of the frosting and the texture of the small chocolate pieces made every slice fun to eat. Decorating with M&M’s is a forgiving method: a thick rivers of frosting helps the candy adhere, and patterns or simple borders created with the candies add a bright, playful touch.
Beyond the cake, there’s more happening with Ms. Brown. A product launch event is scheduled in New York City next week, and the visit will include a stop at the M&M’s museum. I will be attending the launch and meeting Ms. Brown in person, and I plan to share what I learn and see from the event in the coming weeks. If you enjoy behind-the-scenes stories and product launches, keep an eye out for updates from me after the trip.
While I wait for the official debut, I will be enjoying my M&M’s cake and watching the Super Bowl to catch the first glimpse of Ms. Brown on television. The new character adds fresh excitement to a brand that has been part of so many celebrations and everyday moments. Whether you prefer classic milk chocolate, peanut, or the pretzel variety, M&M’s continue to bring simple joy.
If you’d like to follow official brand updates, you can check M&M’s social pages on Facebook and Twitter for the latest announcements. I’ll also post photos and impressions after the NYC launch and the museum visit so you can see how Ms. Brown is being introduced.
What’s your favorite M&M’s variety? Do you use them mostly for snacking, baking, or both? I always enjoy hearing how readers use candy in recipes and decorations, so feel free to share your go-to flavor or a quick decorating tip.
