How to Store Chocolate-Covered Marshmallows?

Cook — 30 minutes
Total — 30 minutes
Serves — 25 marshmallows

Ingredients

  • High-quality chocolate I used 1 bar of dark chocolate
  • Marshmallows Store-bought or Homemade
  • Pretzels Maldon Sea Salt, or other favorite toppings like rainbow sprinkles, candy canes, or crushed graham crackers

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate over a double boiler for best results. Chop or break the chocolate into small pieces and place them in a stainless steel or heatproof glass bowl set over simmering water. Whisk until smooth; add a splash of cream or a teaspoon of coconut oil if you prefer a silkier consistency similar to fondue.
  • Dip each marshmallow into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl, then place the coated marshmallow on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Continue until all marshmallows are coated.
  • While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle each marshmallow with crushed pretzels and a pinch of flaky sea salt. Alternate toppings such as crushed candy canes, sprinkles, or finely chopped nuts for variety. To crush pretzels, place them in a sealed bag and gently pound with the back of a spoon or a small rolling pin.
  • Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 10–15 minutes to set the chocolate quickly. Once firm, transfer the marshmallows to an airtight container. They keep well for several weeks when stored properly and make charming edible gifts when packaged in jars or clear bags with labels.

Tips & Tricks

Tips for Making Chocolate-Dipped Marshmallows

Use lollipop or cake-pop sticks to create marshmallow pops for easier dipping and serving. This also makes them easier to package and display at parties.

If using chocolate chips, choose a high-quality variety; adding a small amount of coconut oil or cream will smooth the melted chocolate if needed.

For variety, add a thin layer of caramel or nut butter to the marshmallow before dipping, or drizzle a contrasting chocolate color over the set coating for a decorative finish.

Work quickly when sprinkling toppings so they adhere before the chocolate hardens. If the chocolate begins to thicken, gently rewarm it over the double boiler for a few seconds.
