Off to London — Holiday Travels and Plans
I’m heading to London later today, and I couldn’t be more excited. There’s something about travel that always sharpens the senses — the anticipation of new streets to explore, the small pleasures of English tea, and simply stepping out of the usual routine. This trip feels especially welcome because it’s a real holiday break: I’m off work until January 6, and I plan to make the most of the time away.
Why this break matters
Work has been busy, and when I return I’m expecting a packed schedule that will keep me occupied through at least April. Having this pause now feels like the perfect reset. A proper break gives space to recharge, reflect, and prepare mentally for the months ahead. I’m looking forward to slower mornings, long walks, and the chance to enjoy travel without the pressure of daily deadlines.
Practical notes and personal bits
- Time off: As mentioned, I’m officially off work until January 6. It’s a welcome holiday and a much-needed respite.
- Missing my dogs: Leaving my puppies behind is the hardest part. I wish they could come along — their company makes every trip better.
- Weather reflections: It was 63 degrees in Nashville yesterday, which felt unusually warm for this time of year. I dislike cold weather, so I’m hoping England’s winter treats me gently while I’m there.
- Name slip-up: Lately I’ve been rushing when I type and occasionally signing emails and posts with a misspelled version of my name. Note to self: slow down and double-check before hitting send.
London and Cornwall — What I’m looking for
I want to make sure I don’t miss anything essential while I’m in London, and I’ll also be spending time in Cornwall. If you have recommendations for restaurants, shops, neighborhoods, or specific sights I shouldn’t skip, I’d love to hear them. I’m open to classic tourist favorites as well as lesser-known local spots — food, markets, museums, coastal walks, and charming cafes are all on my list.
In Cornwall I’m hoping to enjoy the coastline, local seafood, and picturesque villages. Suggestions for coastal walks, beaches, or small towns that capture the spirit of the region are especially welcome. I’ll be balancing the classic London highlights with quieter moments in Cornwall, so any ideas that fit either side of that plan will be useful.
What I’ll be doing while away
My goals for the trip are simple: see a handful of must-see sites, eat well, explore neighborhoods on foot, and take time to relax. I want to capture the mix of big-city energy in London and the calmer pace of Cornwall. I’ll also be taking the opportunity to disconnect a bit from daily work routines and return feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the busy months ahead.
Community and linkups
Today I’m participating in several blog linkups and community posts, including Five on Friday with The Good Life, Fresh Face Friday Blog Hop, That Friday Blog Hop with xoxoRebecca, Fab Favorites Link Up with Stylelixer, and the Little Friday Link Up with The Grits Blog. It’s a nice way to share travel plans and connect with other bloggers before heading out.
If you have must-see recommendations for London or Cornwall, please share them — restaurants, shops, walking routes, and cozy spots are all appreciated. I’m excited to make the most of this holiday and explore both city and coast with fresh eyes.
